KSH: industrial production decreased by 4.9 percent in June compared to the same period of the previous year and by 1.2 percent compared to May
In June 2025, the volume of industrial production fell by 4.9 percent compared to a year earlier. The index adjusted for working days is the same as the unadjusted one. The majority of manufacturing sub-sectors experienced a decline, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) confirmed in its second estimate released on Thursday.
Based on seasonally and working day adjusted data, industrial output was 1.2 percent lower than in May 2025.
The volume of industrial exports was 5.4 percent lower than a year earlier. Vehicle production, which accounts for 31 percent of manufacturing export sales, fell by 10.5 percent, while the production of computer, electronic and optical products, which accounts for 14 percent, increased by 2.0 percent.
Domestic sales in industry decreased by 3.0 percent, and in manufacturing by 1.1 percent, compared to the same month of the previous year.
The production of the manufacturing industry, which represents the dominant (96 percent) weight within industry, decreased by 5.3 percent, that of the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam supply, air conditioning) by 0.1 percent, while the output of the mining industry, which has a small weight, increased by 5.2 percent.
The volume of vehicle production, which has the largest weight and represents 26 percent of manufacturing production, decreased by 11.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The production of road vehicles decreased by 16.1 percent, and the production of road vehicle components by 10.8 percent.
