KSH: Sales prices in the food industry rose by 19.4 percent
In June, industrial producer prices were on average 6.4 percent higher than a year earlier. Domestic sales prices increased by 29.8 percent, export sales decreased by 5.0 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Monday.
The large difference was primarily caused by the fact that the domestic sales prices of the energy industry, which mainly produces for the domestic market and represents a large part of it, were much higher than a year earlier, while export sales prices had already decreased. The increase in the price of raw materials and the increase in production costs, as well as the strengthening of the forint against the euro, also played a role in the development of industrial producer prices.
Compared to the previous month, domestic sales prices decreased by 2.4 percent and export sales by 0.7 percent, so industrial producer prices decreased by 1.3 percent overall.
Within domestic sales, the price increase was 5.0 percent in the manufacturing industry, which represents 65 percent, and 87.7 percent in the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam supply, air conditioning), which accounts for 30 percent – partly as a result of changes in official price regulation. The sales prices of the food industry rose by 19.4 percent.
