KSH: The volume of exports of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 8.2 percent, while the volume of imports decreased by 4.0 percent
In June 2024, the volume of exports was 8.1 percent, and that of imports was 5.2 percent less than in the same period of the previous year. The asset amounted to 1.1 billion euros, the balance deteriorated by 411 million euros compared to a year earlier. Compared to May, the adjusted volume of exports increased by 2.4 percent and that of imports by 4.7 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Monday based on its second estimate.
The value of exports in June was 12.3 billion euros (4,837 billion forints), and that of imports was 11.1 billion euros (4,394 billion forints).
Expressed in euros, the value of exports decreased by 9.9 percent and that of imports by 7.8 percent compared to the previous year.
The price level of foreign trade product turnover, measured in forints, rose by 4.3 percent in exports and 3.5 percent in imports compared to the same month of the previous year. The exchange ratio improved by 0.8 percent. The exchange rate of the forint weakened by 6.4 percent against the euro, and by 7.2 percent against the dollar, KSH added.
In June, the export volume of machinery and transport equipment decreased by 15 percent, and its import by 8.4 percent. The volume of the electrical machine, device and instrument product group has decreased significantly in both exports and imports. The export volume of the road vehicle product group was almost a tenth lower than the base period, and its import volume was lower by almost a fifth.
The export volume of news broadcasting, audio recording and playback equipment decreased by more than a tenth, while its import volume increased by nearly a tenth compared to a year earlier. The turnover of the energy generation machinery and equipment product group, both in exports and imports, was about a fifth lower than in the same period of the previous year.
