KSH: in April, the turnover of retail stores decreased by 12.6 percent
In April 2023, the turnover volume of retail trade – with a significant base effect – decreased by 13.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year according to the raw data, and by 12.6 percent when adjusted for the calendar effect, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday.
According to data adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, the volume of retail trade was 0.9 percent lower than the previous month.
In April, the volume of turnover in food and food-related mixed retail trade, adjusted for calendar effects, was 8.6 percent lower compared to the same period of the previous year. The sales volume of food-type mixed stores, which account for 76 percent of food retail sales, decreased by 10 percent, and that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores by 4.1 percent.
The turnover volume of non-food retail trade decreased by 10.7 percent overall. The volume of sales increased by 5.4 percent in pharmaceutical, medical product, and perfume stores, by 0.3 percent in second-hand goods stores, by 9.6 percent in textile, clothing, and footwear stores, by 12 percent in book, computer technology, and other industrial goods stores, it was mixed in the nature of industrial goods and 20-20 percent smaller in furniture and technical goods stores.
