KSH: consumer prices exceeded the same month of the previous year by an average of 4.6 percent, and May prices by 0.1 percent
In June 2025, consumer prices were 4.6 percent higher on average than a year earlier. Compared to May, prices were 0.1 percent higher on average, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday.
Food prices increased by 6.2 percent in one year (4.9 percent excluding catering services), including 26.0 percent for eggs, 24.4 percent for flour, 22.2 percent for cooking oil, 20.3 percent for coffee, 19.6 percent for chocolate and cocoa, 14.1 percent for fruit and vegetable juices, 10.4 percent for buffet products, 8.1 percent for pastries, 7.3 percent for milk, and 7.1 percent for non-alcoholic soft drinks. Within the product group, the price of margarine decreased by 31.2, that of dairy products by 7.2, that of sausages and sausages by 6.9, and that of pork by 2.0 percent.
The report highlighted that household energy costs increased by 8.6 percent on average, with piped gas rising by 18.4 percent and bottled gas by 5.8 percent.
The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 6.3 percent, with tobacco products rising by 7.0 percent.
Services increased by 5.4 percent, with postal services rising by 11.3 percent, personal care services by 10.1 percent, home repair and maintenance by 9.8 percent, vehicle repair and maintenance by 9.6 percent, rent by 9.4 percent, and holiday services by 7.8 percent.
The price of durable consumer goods increased by 2.6 percent, including jewelry by 23.8 percent, room furniture by 4.6 percent, new passenger cars by 3.7 percent, and used passenger cars by 1.0 percent.
The price of vehicle fuels decreased by 1.0 percent, and pharmaceuticals and medical supplies increased by 5.5 percent, the report shows.
