KSH: domestic guests are pulling up tourism

In May, domestic tourists spent 13.8 percent more guest nights in commercial accommodations than a year beforer, however, the number of guest nights spent by foreigners,declined by 4.1 percent, so the tourist traffic increased by 2.9 percent – the Central Statistics Office (KSH) announced on Thursday.

The gross income of the commercial accommodations increased by 10.6 percent to 18.126 billion HUF, compared to May last year.

In the first five months of the year, the number guest nights spent by domestic tourists increased by 11.9 percent, the number guest nights spent by foreign tourists grew by 2.4 percent. The gross income of the commercial accommodations exceeded 60.5 billion HUF, and increased by 11.6 percent, compared to the same period of last year. (MTI)
