KSH: 59 thousand more people worked in the first quarter than a year ago
In this year's first quarter, the number of employees was 3 million 791 thousand, 59 thousand more than a year ago – told the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Friday, adding that the labor market position of both men and women has improved.
In January-March 2012, the number of employees was 1.6 percent over the same period of last year.
The number of employed persons aged 15-64 increased to 55 thousand to 3 million 756 thousand, while the employment rate increaesd by 1.1 percentage points to 55.7 percent.
In the first quarter, 2 million 35 thousand persons were employed among the 15-64 male population, 31 thousand more than in the same period of 2011. Their employment rate increased by 1.2 percentage points to 60.8 percent. During the period 1 million 743 thousand women were employed. The employment rate of women was 50.8 percent, which is a 0.9 percentage point increase. (MTI)
