KSH: Retail sales rose 4.7 percent in April
According to the raw data, retail sales increased by 4.7 percent in April, compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the calendar effect adjusted data the increase was 6.4 percent – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) sent its first estimate to MTI on Friday.
The difference between the raw data and the calendar effect adjusted data is the “Easter effect”. This year Easter was in March, while it was in April last year.
The calendar-adjusted volume of retail sales increased by 3.9 percent in food, beverages retail stores while in the the non-food retail outlets by 10.3. Calendar-adjusted fuel retail sales increased by 3.5 percent. (MTI)
