KSH: The turnover of retail stores decreased by 4.5 percent
In January 2023, according to the raw data, the turnover volume of retail trade decreased by 3.9 percent, adjusted for the calendar effect, by 4.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Monday.
In January, the volume of turnover in food and food-related mixed retail decreased by 4.8 percent. The sales volume of food-type mixed stores, which account for 76 percent of food retail sales, decreased by 6.7 percent, while that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores increased by 0.3 percent.
The turnover volume of non-food retail trade decreased by 1.5 percent overall. The volume of sales in textile, clothing and footwear stores increased by 13 percent, in book, computer technology, and other industrial goods stores by 5.6 percent, in second-hand goods stores it essentially did not change, while in mixed stores of industrial goods 1.9 percent, pharmaceutical, it decreased by 2.7 percent in pharmaceutical and perfume stores, and by 6.5 percent in furniture and technical goods stores.
