KSH: The number of employed people in January was 4,699,000
In January 2023, the average number of employed persons aged 15-74 was 4,699,000, 46,000 more than a year ago, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Friday.
November 2022-2023 in January, compared to a year earlier, the number of employed persons was 29,000 more, 4,706,000. While the number of workers in the domestic primary labor market increased by 24,000, and the number of workers abroad by 14,000, the number of public employees decreased by 9,000, the KSH explained.
Among the 15-64 year olds, 4 million 592 thousand were classified as employed, the typical employment rate for the age group was 74.6 percent. For men, the number of employed people remained essentially unchanged, at 2,426,000, and their employment rate increased by 0.4 percentage points to 78.8 percent. In the case of women, the number of employed persons increased by 18,000 to 2,166,000, and the employment rate increased by 0.9 percentage points to 70.4 percent.
