KSH: retail sales fell in January by 2.6 percent, less than expected
The January evolution of retail is better than expected. In January, retail sales volumes were 2.6 percent below the previous year's datas. Analysts expected a 4.1 percent decline – the Central Statistics Office (KSH) announced on Tuesday.
The 0.4 percent decline in January (compared to the previous month) did not “destroyed” the 0.6 percent increase of December, so the volume of retail sales exceeded the level of November. Demand for food decreased by 2.8 percent, while analysts expected a 3.5 percent decline. (MTI)
