KSH: In the fourth quarter of 2023, the performance of the economy was unchanged
According to raw data, Hungary’s gross domestic product (GDP) did not change in the fourth quarter of 2023, but according to seasonally and calendar-adjusted and balanced data, it increased by 0.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Compared to the previous quarter – on the basis of seasonally and calendar-adjusted and balanced data – the performance of the economy also did not change, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday based on its second estimate.
In 2023, GDP was 0.9 percent lower than the previous year based on raw data, and 0.7 percent lower than the previous year based on seasonally and calendar-adjusted and balanced data.
The raw volume index of the second estimate did not change, the seasonally and calendar-adjusted and balanced index was 0.1 percentage points higher compared to the first estimate, KSH noted.
On the production side, the performance of industry, including the manufacturing industry, fell by 6.4 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.
