KSH: The turnover of retail stores decreased by 12.3 percent in May
In May, the volume of retail trade – with a significant base effect – decreased by 12.7 percent in raw data, and by 12.3 percent when adjusted for calendar effects, compared to the same period of the previous year, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) announced on Thursday.
The volume of retail trade fell by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month, according to data adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects. Compared to May of last year, the volume of turnover in food and food-related mixed retail decreased by 7.3 percent. The sales volume of food-type mixed stores, which account for 75 percent of food retail sales, decreased by 8.2 percent, and that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores by 4.0 percent.
