The Russian-Ukrainian war conflict not only drew attention to the vulnerability of the world from an economic and social point of view, but also pointed to the need to prevent future crises and build resilience against them. The aquaculture sector, like other sectors, was negatively affected by the failed Brussels sanctions.
In 2022, extraordinary changes took place on the market of input materials for aquaculture production, which adversely affect Hungarian farmers
The prices of feed, energy (including electricity and fossil fuels), other materials, and services have increased to a degree that threatens the economic sustainability of production. Among the individual items in the cost structure of aquaculture production, feed represents the largest weight, representing 30-60% depending on the production system and technology.
This is how you can get financial help
The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund can provide financial assistance to actors in the fisheries and aquaculture sector for lost income and additional costs arising from the market disruption caused by the war and its effects on the supply chain of fisheries and aquaculture products. The Managing Authority of the Hungarian Fish Farming Operative Program made this opportunity available to Hungarian market participants in the framework of its call for “Crisis support”, in which a maximum of HUF 101,237/hectare in the case of lake farm fish production and a maximum of HUF 138,000/tonne in the case of intensive industrial fish production could be requested. the fish farmers. It was possible to submit support applications between July 23, 2023 and August 31, 2023.
