Siemens and OMV are jointly installing e-truck charging stations
The number of e-buses and e-commercial vehicles has been growing dynamically for years, and in addition to the passenger car stock, electrification is increasingly gaining ground in freight and goods transport. Operators of bus and logistics fleets are therefore increasingly looking for suitable charging solutions. Responding to this need, Siemens and OMV have now signed a letter of intent to build high-performance e-charging stations and e-depots in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania that can also serve electric heavy vehicles.
The two companies will provide complete, intelligent charging solutions for fleet operators. In addition to the installation of charging equipment, they support their customers in the entire process of transition to e-mobility, from infrastructure planning to optimization of the electrical network to software services that ensure smooth depot management and up-to-date analyses.
The partnership represents a milestone in making European bus and truck traffic more environmentally friendly, which was also preceded by a successful pilot cooperation. In the spring of 2024, the SICHARGE-D, an ultra-powerful public fast charger suitable for charging e-trucks, was first put into operation at the OMV charging station in Upper Austria. This device, which is equipped with liquid-cooled charging cables tailored to the needs of heavy goods vehicles and provides a stable 400 kW power even in temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius, is also equipped with the AutoCharge function that simplifies charging: when the charging cable is connected, the charging process starts immediately, according to the set tariff, and the payment is made automatically is happening.
