Slovenia’s Hofer And Allego To Launch EV-Charging Partnership
Discounter Hofer, part of Aldi Süd, has teamed up with European EV-charging network Allego to establish a network of ultra-fast charging stations across Slovenia.
By the end of 2026, electric vehicle owners will have access to convenient, competitively priced charging at nearly 50 Hofer locations, operating 24/7, ESM Magazine reports.
The initiative aligns with Slovenia’s growing adoption of alternative-fuel vehicles.
According to the country’s statistical office, 26% of new passenger cars registered in 2023 were hybrid and 6% were electric.
Christian Zeh, COO of Allego, stated, “Together with Hofer, we are integrating reliable and convenient charging into our customers’ routines, whether during their weekly shop or longer trips.
“Each new location brings us closer to truly carefree electric mobility and strengthens Allego’s path to becoming the leading operator of charging stations in Slovenia.”
Ultra-Fast Charging
The new charging stations will primarily feature ultra-fast chargers with capacities of up to 400 kW.
This high-power output will allow electric vehicles to gain a significant charge during a typical shopping trip, minimising downtime and maximising convenience.
These stations will be installed in all of Hofer’s outdoor car park areas, where feasible.
Customers can easily locate the charging points via the Hofer website, using the ‘Electric charging station’ filter, and they will also be integrated into other popular charging station maps.
Convenient Payment Options
Allego is committed to making the charging process as straightforward as possible, offering multiple secure payment methods.
The system supports over 400 different e-mobility service provider (eMSP) charging cards, covering more than 99% of all existing charging cards.
For vehicles compatible with the Plug & Charge technology, charging begins automatically upon connecting the cable.
Users will soon be able to pay easily using NFC-enabled payment and credit cards by simply tapping their card onto the charging station’s reader.
