The Székely counties will present themselves with a joint stand at the 48th Travel Exhibition
There will also be a Szeklerland stand at the 48th Travel Exhibition to be held in Budapest between February 19-22, at which the three Szeklerland counties will present themselves together – the Harghita County Government announced on Wednesday.
At the joint stand with Covasna and Mureș counties, Harghita County will be represented by the Harghita Community Development Association team and the Szépvíz Székely Border Guard Memorial Center. These provide a comprehensive picture of Harghita County’s tourist offer, highlighting the region’s natural values, cultural heritage, active recreation opportunities and developing gastronomy – they wrote.
According to the information, the focus of this year’s edition is gastronomy, on the occasion of Harghita County winning the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2027. Recognition is also a responsibility for the coordinated development and promotion of local products, traditional flavors, artisanal ingredients and quality hospitality.
During the Budapest presentation, special attention will be paid to those gastronomic venues, producers and events that preview the program series of the gastronomic thematic year.
A highlight of the Székelyföld stand will be the Szépvíz Székely Border Guard Memorial Center, which is the county’s defining historical and identity-strengthening visitor center.
Visitors will also receive information about other cultural and natural attractions of the Székelyföld county, and the stand will feature tourist publications, the Székely Kitchen and Garden magazine and a gastronomic guide will also be available – they wrote.
Bíró Barna Botond, the chairman of the Hargita County Council, emphasized in connection with the participation in Budapest: this is a chance for the Hungarian public to get to know the Székelyföld county’s offerings first-hand.
“It is important for us to personally address those families, hikers and travelers looking for cultural experiences who would choose Székelyföld as a travel destination“
– the chairman of the county government was quoted in the announcement.
Károly Szabó, director of the Harghita Community Development Association, emphasized that the hospitality industry in Székely County is undergoing extraordinary development, so it can be rediscovered through its traditional values and modern offerings.
