Hungarian sweet corn is popular in Europe
Half a million tons of corn will be transported to the production plants this year. As it was said at Syngenta’s event in Hajdúszoboszló: a large part of the crops – cultivated on 32 thousand hectares – will be exported.
Since the introduction of the Russian embargo on food, demand towards sweet corn has fallen in Europe, so the production area decreases for the second consecutive year. The processors are trying to retain their market positions by improving quality, by producing several super sweet products and by using new forms of packagings.
