Wine sales at Kifli.hu increased by nearly a fifth
Customers can choose from over 500 types of wine on Kifli.hu, ordering an average of 28,000 liters of the drink per month. Demand for Hungarian and international wines – including many premium items – has also been growing steadily: the category’s turnover has increased by 17 percent in the past year.
Customers of Kifli.hu have ordered nearly a fifth more wine in the past year than in the same period in the previous year, and currently 28,000 liters of the drink are sold monthly in the online supermarket. The most popular wines are Juhász Rosé Gyöngyözőbor, Nyakas and Juhász Irsai Olivér, Ostoros Birtok Felső-Magyarországi Irsai Olivér dry white wine, and Nyakas Budai Aligvárom. The most popular Hungarian varieties are Irsai and Olaszrizling.
In the Kifli.hu selection, white wines make up half of the total range, red wines 35 percent, and rosé wines 15 percent. Sparkling wines are represented in a separate category with 140 items. The premium and exclusive section consists of about 300 types of wine, which Kifli.hu classifies as the TOP category. 7 out of 10 times, Hungarian wine is added to the customer’s basket, and 3 times foreign wine.
Customer preferences change depending on the season: in the summer months, fresh, light white and rosé wines are the most popular, while with the arrival of autumn, red wines are in demand, and in the season starting around mid-October, mulled wine ingredients increase in demand. The entry-level category of 2,000–3,000 forints is the most popular of the range, but the premium segment is also receiving increasing attention.
Kifli.hu already offers 2025 vintages, such as Taschner Irsai; soon, wines from János Németh, Jammertal and Sipos, as well as premium items and gift packages for the holiday season, will also be available.
The diversity of the international wine selection in the online supermarket is indicated by the fact that wines from Italy, Spain, France, New Zealand, the USA, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, Australia and Japan are also available on its platform.
