European mall area expanded by nearly six million square meters in 2011
According to the lastest study of Cushman & Wakefield, the expected 2011development boom in the European shopping center market is below the expectations on several markets, due to delays in handovers.
If all the planned shopping center developments have been delivered on time, the European supply would have increased by 6.8 million square meters, but this 15 percent growth, compared to 2010 did not occured. As the result of delays in many markets (eg Russia, Turkey and Italy) European new shopping center space in 2011 expanded by only 5.9 million square meters, which is almost the same as the poor results of 2010.
