German inflation slowed to an almost three-year low in March
In line with what was announced in advance, inflation in Germany slowed to an almost three-year low in March, according to the final data published by the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis, on Friday.
In March, the consumer price index exceeded the previous year by 2.2 percent, the smallest amount since May 2021. One month earlier, in February, inflation in Germany stood at 2.5 percent.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index also increased by 0.4 percent in March, in line with what was announced in advance, after having risen by the same amount in February, by 0.4 percent.
In Germany, energy prices fell by 2.7 percent in March compared to a year earlier, after a smaller decrease of 2.4 percent in February, while food prices fell by 0.7 percent compared to last March, a month earlier, but by 0.9 percent in February. rose annually.
