Nearly 29,000 farms are affected by the Dutch government’s plans to reduce nitrogen emissions

Reduction of nitrogen pollution in the Netherlands may mean closing livestock farms
About 40-50 thousand livestock farms are registered in the Netherlands.
According to reports, the government’s goal is to reduce nitrogen emissions to such an extent by 2030 that almost 75 percent of the Dutch nature conservation areas belonging to the EU’s Natura 2000 ecological network remain below the nitrogen level considered safe for nature. The Dutch cabinet made 24.3 billion euros available to achieve this goal. (MTI)
