Passenger traffic at Romanian airports increased by nearly 10 percent in 2025
The passenger traffic at Romanian airports in 2025 was more than 28.5 million people, the Association of Romanian Airports (AAR) announced on Tuesday.
This is the highest number ever, exceeding the record of 26.033 million people in 2024 by 9.66 percent.
The busiest airport was Bucharest’s Henri Coanda with 17.001 million passengers, while the country’s Cluj-Napoca airport was the busiest in the world with 17.001 million passengers. (3.582 million passengers), Iasi (2.244 million passengers), Timisoara (1.458 million passengers), Suceava (769 thousand passengers) and Sibiu (694 thousand passengers) received the most passengers. The traffic of Bucharest’s Aurel Vlaicu Airport increased the most, approximately six and a half times, to 694 thousand passengers.
The lowest passenger traffic was at Tulcea (8,173 passengers) and Arad (8,925 passengers) airports. There are 18 civil airports in Romania, two of which are in Bucharest.
The freight traffic increased by 8.9 percent to 57,624 tons. The largest cargo traffic was handled by Henri Coanda (42,211 tons), Cluj-Napoca (6,631 tons) and Timisoara (6,405 tons) airports.
