Thanks to the teachers working in agricultural education, who educate, set an example, provide guidance, form an identity and build a community, for which we cannot be grateful enough – said Minister István Nagy at the recognition ceremony held on the occasion of Teachers’ Day at the Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday. The number of young people studying in agricultural vocational training has increased.
The minister emphasized that, from the point of view of Hungary’s future and competitiveness, how it is possible to ensure learning and livelihood for the people living in the countryside, and to offer attractive opportunities. Today, one of the most important tasks of agricultural education lies in the successful transfer of skills such as quick adaptation, continuous learning, thinking in projects, recognizing the importance of networks, or the use of technological diversity, he added.

They teach you to work with dedication and reliability, and through them we first feel the sweet joy of a job well done, which can be a word of praise or a good grade. He explained that together with the teachers, they believe that the future cannot be built with yesterday’s knowledge. This is what the ministry implements in the 162 institutions and 285 task performance locations in which secondary agricultural vocational training takes place today. The enrollment data clearly indicate that the demand for agricultural vocational training is increasing. In the 2023/2024 academic year, 5,070 students were admitted to one of the agricultural vocational schools maintained by the ministry, which is an increase of more than eight percent compared to the previous period, the minister listed. At the ceremony, István Nagy expressed his appreciation and appreciation to all the teachers, and especially thanked those colleagues who work in agricultural vocational training.
