More up-to-date catering decree
The Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry for National Economy introduced the new catering decree together, at a press conference in July. Minister of state Dr Endre Kardeván stressed that the new decree makes catering regulations more flexible and the special storage requirements of different types of food also become simpler. At the same time the new document is a big step forward as regards food safety and consumer health. For instance the ice cream book system is abolished and raw milk can be bought from farmers. Minister of state Kristóf Szatmáry told that the new regulation’s aim is to create an environment where only the minimum requirements of the European Union have to be met. For example it will be enough to separate products inside the same refrigerator and two-phase washing up will not be obligatory.
