Coronavirus: global tourism has fallen by to third
The number of tourist trips fell by 65 percent worldwide in the first six months year-on-year, and tourism revenues fell by 460 billion USD – portfolio.hu quotes from the latest report from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The coronavirus pandemic hit hardest in the Asia-Pacific region, with the number of tourists visiting there falling by 72 percent in the first six months. In second place we can find Europe, where 66 percent less people traveled than a year before. The number of tourists visiting both Africa and the Middle East fell by 57 percent, while the decline for South America was 55 percent. (portfolio.hu)
