Aldi limits the purchase of price-stop products
A week before Christmas, Aldi decided to limit the amount of its price-stop products that can be purchased, reports Portfolio. The newspaper sent questions to the store chain after images circulating on social media appeared to have imposed restrictions on the price-fixed products.
Aldi confirmed to Portfolio that they were forced to do so. As they write: “Aldi wants to ensure that all consumers have access to products with a price ceiling. Together with its supplier partners, the company monitors market trends and jointly makes significant efforts to ensure that all members of the range are available, including the products affected by the price cap.”
As “high interest” has recently been experienced in goods subject to the price cap, the quantity that can be purchased per person from December 17, 2022 has been determined as follows:
cooking oil: maximum 1 liter
milk: maximum 1 liter
maximum 1 tray of chicken thighs
granulated sugar: maximum 1 kg
chicken breast: maximum 1 tray or 1 package
pork leg: maximum 1 tray or 1 package
flour: maximum 1 kg
potatoes: up to 1 kg or 1 package
eggs: 1 box or 1 tray
The quantity limit applies equally in all Aldi stores in Hungary.
