In the first quarter of 2018, Hungarians traveling for shopping abroad spent 25 billion forints in cross-border stores. That’s a quarter more than the money left by Hungarian customers in a foreign store a year earlier. Looking at the quarterly balance sheets of previous years, we have not spent so much in this three-month period abroad, and five years ago Hungarians spent only half the amount of money, so shopping tourism has doubled.
