Apricot season started and ended early

This year’s apricot season started early and ended early as well. The housewives were hoping that apricot will only be cheaper, but they soon disappeared from the market. In the middle of June a kilogram of apricot cost 450 to 500 HUF towards the end of the season it cost 300 HUF.

According to the datas of the Marketing Board, 800 to 900 thousand tons of apricot is produced in an average year in Hungary. This year producers can only harvest the half of this amount. Apple used to be about 500 thousand tons of 900 thousand tons of fruit, this year  it seems that there will be no significant downturn in this area. (agromonitor.hu)
