The NETA change is a relief for export-oriented producers
Thanks to the notification of the National Chamber of Agricultural Economy, the obligation to pay the public health product tax for food industry enterprises that sell for export and domestically produce NETA-obliged products has ended. As a result, Hungarian processors will not be at a competitive disadvantage against foreign companies on foreign markets.
In the fall of 2022, the chamber recommended to the Government that, in the case of product production for the export market, the product manufacturers in the chain should be exempted from the obligation to pay NETA for the delivered products. The government also perceived the justification of this proposal and amended the tax legislation within a short period of time. 197/2022 on extra-profit taxes was published in the Magyar Közlöny on November 7, 2022. (VI. 4.) Government decree on the amendment related to public health product tax – 441/2022. (XI. 7.) Government decree brought a solution to the previous problem.
