The Home Start Program has been launched, with the aim of making it easier for young people to acquire their first home with the help of a preferential home loan. In connection with this, K&H is providing a HUF 200,000 credit to all applicants who have an existing or newly opened retail bank account with the bank – regardless of the loan amount – and is reducing or completely covering a number of initial costs, including the contract fee, the notary fee and the valuation fee. According to the bank’s experts, the scheme allows young people to start their future in a safer, more plannable environment, while the home loan market could expand by up to 50 percent by the end of the year, the majority of which could be provided by the Home Start loan.

The Home Start Program has been launched since September, which helps those who are considering acquiring their first residential property with a preferential home loan. The aim of the program is to ensure that home ownership is not a plan postponed for years, but rather that it becomes accessible to those who have been forced to move due to high rents and precarious housing. K&H offers many extras to those applying for a home loan, which is already very preferential, with a maximum interest rate of 3 percent, the financial institution announced.

Easier start

K&H significantly reduces initial costs: after every successful disbursement, the bank gives a credit of 200 thousand forints to applicants with a retail bank account, regardless of the amount of the loan taken out. In addition to the credit, the financial institution also provides other fee discounts.

Gergő Molnár, head of retail marketing at K&H, said that the financial institution will waive the contract fee for those who have K&H’s smart or premium account packages and maintain them for at least five years; but even in the absence of this, it offers a 50 percent discount on the contract fee. The Bank will refund 100% of the notary fee, and the cost of the valuation or technical inspection for the first time can also be refunded to customers. In addition, K&H will cover the cost of the title deed and map copy, and when opening an account as a new customer, debtors and co-debtors can receive an additional bonus of HUF 40,000 per person, which can increase to HUF 60,000 if the customer comes with a bank change process, which can mean a total credit of up to HUF 320,000 in the case of spouses, for example.

The program can bring serious revival

According to K&H experts, the program can really take young people to a new level: they do not have to bear the burden of rent for years, but can build their future in a safe, predictable environment. The preferential loan gives many people the opportunity to bring forward one of the biggest decisions of their lives and start building a home now.

The bank expects that in the last quarter of the year the volume of the housing loan market may exceed the same period last year by up to 50 percent. The Otthon Start housing loan, together with the CSOK Plusz schemes, may account for the majority of disbursements, so the proportion of interest-subsidized loans may increase to over 70 percent. However, the question is how many people will be who did not plan to buy before, but will still take the plunge into acquiring their own home due to the favorable conditions offered by the program.
