Bird flu identified in Komárom-Esztergom County
The laboratory of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) has also detected the presence of the bird flu virus in Komárom-Esztergom County. The affected herd is being liquidated and the epidemiological investigation is underway.
The suspicion of bird flu arose due to the increased mortality on the breeding hen farm in the Tárkány settlement of Komárom-Esztergom County, which has approximately 60,000 animals. This was confirmed by the Nébih laboratory, which detected the H5N1 subtype of the virus in the dead animals. The liquidation of the affected herd is in progress. A 3 km radius protection zone and a 10 km radius surveillance (observation) zone have been designated around the farm.
With the outbreak in Komárom-Esztergom County, the animal health authority has confirmed the bird flu virus in eight counties
Nébih continues to ask poultry farmers to do everything possible to prevent the virus from entering their flocks. Strict and consistent compliance with disease control regulations is of paramount importance!
