Sloe Sale at ALDI: this wild fruit has many advantages!
ALDI is surprising its customers with a special sale on Saturday: it is offering a 150-gram package of sloe for HUF 399. Many people may not have even tasted the sedge, even though it grows wild in Hungary and can be collected freely. This autumn wild fruit is not only delicious, but also a real vitamin bomb, whose season lasts from the end of September until the first frosts.
The dark blue, spherical berries of the gorse have a tart taste, but lose their sour character after a few frosty nights. Those who don’t want to wait can freeze the fruits at home, thus reaching full maturity. Kékén can be used in many forms: it can be eaten raw, but it can also be used to make fruit juice, chutney, jam or brandy – reports HelloVidék.hu.
It is also highly valued in folk medicine: the dried fruit of the nettle can be used as a medicinal tea, its buds are used to make a blood-cleansing and weight-loss tea, while its flowers act as a laxative. It is now easily available at ALDI, so even those who have not come across this healthy wild fruit can get to know it.
