KKM State Secretary: Shipping and logistics are a strategic sector for Hungary
Shipping and logistics are a strategic sector for Hungary, so the government has already implemented serious infrastructure developments – said the state secretary responsible for bilateral relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (KKM) on Wednesday in Visegrád.
Illés Boglárka emphasized at the international conference (CEE Freight Conference) held on the occasion of Hungarian Freight Forwarders’ Day: it is essential that road and rail transport in Central Europe be easier and faster, which is also a priority objective for the Hungarian government.
He added that when “we talk about border developments in the region, the government must take into account not only economic but also national political aspects”. It is important to take the expressways to the border and increase the number and throughput of new border crossing points, said the state secretary.
Illés Boglárka said that a priority goal for Hungary is the development of connectivity in order to ensure that borders and distances do not become an obstacle for the movement of goods and people, and that this will also be an important area of Hungary’s EU presidency. He added that one of the government’s goals is to improve north-south traffic connections in Central Europe in addition to west-east connections.
