Metro to abandon UK?
Metro Group-owned Makro is planning to cut 378 jobs by closing three cash and carry stores in the UK.
The closures were due to "difficult
trading times and a need to reduce costs," according to the
company. As Makro Cash & Carry in the UK is struggling, it is
possible that the company will abandon its presence in the country.
However, Metro Group still seems to be optimistic. The company
announced in October 2008, that it expects Makro to turn a profit
within the next four years.
