Harvested winter wheat has a high quality
Nearly the third of the winter wheat in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, has been harvested. The crop quality – produced on more than 30 thousand hectares – is very good – told Wachal Kálmán, head of the Board of Agriculture of the regional government office to MTI on Tuesday.
Wachal Kálmán said that the county's sandy soil is not ideal for the cultivation of wheat. Yields are generally low, which were further deteriorated by this year's extreme weather conditions. The county’s average yield per hectare is around 3 to 3.2 tons. (MTI)
