The wines awarded with the title Debrecen City Wine 2024 were selected
In order to develop and support the quality Hungarian wine culture, the City of Debrecen is doing a lot in an exemplary way. This objective is also supported by the Debrecen City Wine title. The primary goal of the wine competition, which has been announced since 2015, is to select the best Hungarian wines that worthily represent the wine culture of the Carpathian Basin at Debrecen’s official events, gastronomic programs, in the wine offerings of local restaurants, and as representative gifts.
Nearly 500 wines from 130 wineries from 21 wine regions participated in the first round of this year’s Debrecen Város Bora wine competition. The stakes were high after the wineries with the best results were invited to the wine judging that decided the awarding of the title. In the last round, a prestigious jury consisting of well-known personalities of the Hungarian wine community selected the winning items from among the wines of 30 wineries in 13 wine regions. The evaluation and ranking was carried out by the experts according to the international 100-point evaluation system, and the top wine was named in 7 categories.
