American pork loses ground on the Mexican market
Washington has imposed 25 percent protective tariff on imports of steel products and 10 percent on the imports of aluminum products. Mexico decided to impose a 20 percent customs duty on pork imported from the United States on 1 June, while the EU will launch the customs war on 1 July – agrarszektor.hu wrote.
The planned European product list includes 2.8 billion euros worth of goods. Last year, Mexico imported nearly 650,000 tonnes of pork chops and biscuits from the United States, and total pork imports amounted to about 840,000 tonnes. Pigmeat imports amounted to 1 billion USD per year, 90 percent of which came from the United States – Világgazdaság wrote. (agrarszektor.hu)
