Nestlé sells its remaining stake in Herta
Nestlé is selling its remaining 40 % stake in Herta Foods to Casa Tarradellas. This brings the joint venture to an end after six years.
Six years ago, Nestlé sold 60 % of Herta to the Spanish group. The two groups wanted to turn the dough and meat brand into a joint venture that would build on Herta’s “significant presence and leadership position in several European countries” and “benefit from the complementary strengths and innovation expertise of both parties”, Retail Detail reports based on news from ESM.
The joint venture included Herta’s charcuterie activities in six European countries, as well as its dough activities in France and Belgium.
The new (sole) owner, Casa Tarradellas, makes pizza, fresh dough, sandwiches, and various meat products. The company was founded in 1976 and, in those almost fifty years, has grown to become the sixth most popular brand in Spain, according to a Kantar study.
