The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) is announcing a short film competition for students aged 13-18 entitled “Thank you, I’ll skip it!”. Applicants can submit short videos that show how to say no to smoking or other nicotine-containing products even when peers offer them to them – NAV told MTI on Thursday.

According to the announcement, flavored tobacco and nicotine products from illegal sources, with uncontrolled composition, often purchased online, can pose a serious health risk and can lead to rapid addiction, especially among young people. NAV specialists therefore regularly hold prevention lectures in schools to raise awareness of these dangers.

The competition, which addresses young people, was launched at the initiative of NAV’s Working Group Against Illegal Tobacco (IDEM).

The entries can be 60-90 second short films, which can even be made with a mobile phone. NAV will award the creators of the three best works with media vouchers worth 250, 150, and 100 thousand forints, and a special prize of 50 thousand forints will also be awarded for a work that is outstanding for its age group. The winning films will be screened in NAV’s educational programs and school presentations at various locations across the country.

The detailed rules of the competition can be found at nav.gov.hu. NAV is waiting for links to the entries until May 8, 2026 at the e-mail address koszi_kihagyom@nav.gov.hu - the tax office’s announcement reads.
