Smaller store – bigger profit
Wal-Mart announced their plans of opening 40 medium-sized and express stores this year. The world’s biggest retailer is trying to compete with the expansion of one-dollar-shops and drugstores. Currently the smallest Wal-Mart can be found in a university campus, selling students’ favourites such as frozen pizza, soft drinks and sweets at low prices; some similar units also house a pharmacy.
