The deputy presidents of the GVH were appointed
Both vice presidents of the competition authority will continue their work for Hungarian consumers after President Katalin Novák repeatedly appointed László Bak and András Tóth as vice presidents of the Economic Competition Authority (GVH); the latter at the same time as the chairman of the Competition Council.
On the recommendation of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, President Katalin Novák confirmed László Bak and András Tóth, the current vice presidents of the GVH, in their positions for the next 6 years.
Balázs Csaba Rigó, the president of the competition authority, recommended the continuation of the work of his two deputies to the prime minister, as both professionals contributed greatly to the protection of the Hungarian people and market competition. Prior to the Prime Minister’s proposal, the Economic Committee of the Parliament publicly heard the two candidates, supporting both their appointment and András Tóth’s presidency of the Competition Council.
András Tóth has held the position of deputy president of the Economic Competition Office since 2010, and László Bak since 2016; the former manages the activities of the Competition Council, and the latter manages the competition supervision investigations of the authority.
During their term of office, according to international surveys, Hungarian market competition indicators improved in all respects, in most cases above the EU average. Their work so far has greatly contributed to the professional respectability of the Hungarian Competition Authority, in recognition of which Hungary was able to host the World Conference of Competition Authorities last year.
