Magazine: Who can live la dolce vita?
János Pataki, president of the Guild of Hungarian Confectioners hopes that the new catering and tourism act, which enters into force in 2012, will only allow those places to call themselves ‘confectionery’ that have their own workshop where the cakes are made. The guild compiled a list of eight cakes that are considered original Hungarian delicacies. János Pataki is of the opinion that Dobos Cake should be the first to be included in the text of the future Hungaricum law. The guild joined forces with the Bakers’ Association, fighting for the quality of bejgli. This year the nation’s cake, which will be sold in many confectioneries from 20 August nationwide, became László Zila’s millet cake filled with Kecskemét apricot.
