90 percent of imported goods from China arrive by air
Medicines, perishable goods, raw materials for production – these are the goods that most often arrive by plane to domestic companies or depart from them abroad. It is often faster and safer to transport very expensive products by plane. Domestic companies import goods mostly from China, but export activity is also significant.
Air transport is the fastest mode of transport, and when the goal is to get the product or goods to their destination as soon as possible, it is also one of the most cost-effective solutions.
“If there is a production delay somewhere, it can even cause a line stop. If the raw material does not arrive on time, it costs much more than the air transport fee. Especially for companies that operate on a model that says everything must be available at the right time”
– gave an example of Ferenc Majoros, head of air import at Airmax Cargo Budapest Zrt., which will be 30 next year.
He also talked about how before Christmas – often in the case of fashion products – logistical disruptions occur internationally every year when there are congestions on the rail or sea routes.
The Suez crisis, capacity shortages, port strikes, rail problems, all can cause logistical problems for which air transport is a solution. Thus, small and medium-sized enterprises and multinational companies often use this opportunity.
