China issues new e-commerce guidelines
China on Monday issued new guidelines for the development of the e-commerce sector, aiming to balance domestic growth and international markets, Chinese authorities said.
The document was jointly issued by several ministries and regulators, including the ministries of commerce, industry and agriculture, as well as market and cyberspace regulators.
The guidelines aim to strike a balance between development and regulation, efficiency and fairness, and the integration of the digital and real economies emphasizes.
China plans to establish pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce, develop uniform rules and standards, and encourage platforms to expand overseas.
The guidelines support companies in establishing overseas procurement bases, expanding the range of quality imported products, and establishing faster channels to facilitate the entry of international goods into the Chinese market.
The measures were announced after a delegation of European Union lawmakers recently visited China. The Chinese Foreign Ministry previously said that “the visit can contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and the stable development of bilateral relations.”
