Syngenta’s offering has been expanded with high-performance hybrids and effective crop protection solutions
Syngenta kicked off the year with new products and top hybrids tailored to environmental challenges. The season-opening event showcased newly developed herbicides, the latest biological solutions, and sunflower and corn hybrids capable of peak yields.
The Hungarian agricultural sector is facing significant challenges, and producers are increasingly demanding more advice, competitive alternatives, and new-generation hybrids. Syngenta is at the forefront of modern agricultural solutions: it helps its partners to manage their crops effectively with personal and digital services, exchange of experience, and integration of international trends. For example, Syngenta launched the “6 Tons” program to work with producers to refine sunflower production technology across the country by analyzing a wealth of data. Based on the experience of the program so far, after sunflower, cereals and corn will also be incorporated into the crop rotation offer at a technological level. The “Every Seed Counts” cereal program also calls on producers to think together so that they can improve quality and increase yields at the farm level by incorporating technological elements. In corn, the “We Grow Together” program seeks solutions to the current challenges facing the crop plant. The programs are also supported by field-specific hybrid offers and plant number recommendations adapted to the specific area with new digital tools. All of this is completed by the most modern Interra Scan nutrient management digital platform in Europe.
Top genetics in Syngenta’s sunflower portfolio
Syngenta has the widest range of sunflower hybrids in Hungary, so every producer can find the most suitable hybrid for them. According to the company, due to the increasingly extreme domestic weather, conscious hybrid selection has become more valuable, and hybrids are classified into three types based on four agrotechnical characteristics, thus helping the producer to select the best performing hybrid in the given area. As announced at the season opening event in Szekszárd, in the linoleic acid Express-tolerant segment, Surest, which also has a high yield potential and an oil content of over 50%, will join Sumiko in 2025. This segment also includes the popular Sureli hybrid, which is the 3rd largest seller according to the Kynetec 2024 sunflower seed panel. With the new Suliano hybrid, the high oleic acid Express-tolerant category is now represented by a strong trio. The high oil content Suliano is a vegetative type hybrid that can stand its ground even in areas with weaker conditions and exposed to stressful conditions thanks to its high stress tolerance. Together with the very popular Subeo and the Suviedo hybrid, available since 2024, they form the top three in this segment.
