The average yield of apricots is outstanding
Among the fruits, cherry picking showed 99.7 percent readiness on July 16. The national average decreased by about 20 percent compared to last year, and was 5.3 tons/hectare. The yield per hectare in the counties of Baranya and Nógrád reached only 1.9–2.4 tons/hectare, but the average yield per hectare was 11.5 tons in the county of Hajdú-Bihar and 15 tons in the county of Komárom-Esztergom.
The apricot harvest in 2024 surpassed the excellent yield average of two years earlier, the harvested quantity was 28.3 thousand tons at the time of the report. Harvesting has been completed in eleven counties. The highest yield average (18 tons/hectare) and yield amount (6.1 thousand tons) were achieved in the county of Somogy. Apricot picking was completed on about 90 percent of the production area by the time of this report, and the national average yield was 6.3 tons per hectare.
On July 16, peach picking was at 51.2 percent, the yield average was around 10.8 tons/hectare, which is almost double the yield per hectare last year.
