Pig prices skyrocketed
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations forecasted in November that the world’s pork output would reduce by 8.5 percent to 110.5 million tons this year, in comparison with 2018. In the European Union the abattoir entry price of ‘E’ commercial category pigs was EUR 1.83/kg in October 2019, 32 percent more than one year earlier. According to NAIK AKI PÁIR data, the production price of Hungarian slaughter pigs was HUF 612/kg, calculated without VAT and transportation costs; this price is 37 percent higher than a year earlier.
In October the European Commission said the EU’s poultry production will be more than 15.6 million tons in 2019, which is 2.5 percent more than in 2018. In Hungary the live weight production price of broiler chicken increased by 3 percent to HUF 260/kg in the first 46 weeks of 2019. Raw milk’s production price was HUF 104.86/kg in October 2019 – this means a 4-percent rise from the level of September 2019 and a 9-percent increase in comparison with the October 2018 level. Raw milk’s export price air was HUF 115.3/kg, 3 percent higher than in the previous month. //
