April data are out: based on this, how realistic is it that the MNB’s inflation plan will be met?
Based on the KSH’s quick information, the rate of the annual price increase in April was exactly 24 percent, so the inflation data valid for the first 4 months is already known. Based on this, Bankmonitor’s experts examined how inflation should develop in the remaining period in order to meet the central bank’s expectations for the year 2023.
Based on KSH data, the annual average price increase was 24 percent in April, which is a decrease compared to March’s 25.2 percent. However, for the time being, we cannot speak of a decrease in value, not least because prices rose by 0.7 percent on a monthly basis between March and April.
We already know the inflation data for the first four months: the statistical office measured 25.7 percent in January, 25.4 percent in February, 25.2 percent in March, and 24.0 percent in April. According to this, the average price increase in the first third of the year was 25.1 percent – calculated using an arithmetic mean.
