Hungary’s Most Beautiful Vineyards Announced
On August 25, at the MATE Budai Campus, Bor és Piac professional magazine announced the winners of the Hungary’s Most Beautiful Vineyard 2025 competition. The event, held for the 14th time, was under the patronage of Minister of Agriculture István Nagy.
This year brought exceptional success for two Badacsony estates: Váli Birtok won first place in the Small Estate category, while Villa Tolnay shared second place in the Medium Estate category with Etyeki Kúria.
Since its launch in 2012, the competition has combined public voting and professional evaluation. The estates shortlisted by readers were visited and assessed during the summer by a jury of Bor és Piac editors, previous winners, and professors from MATE’s viticulture and oenology departments. Final rankings were based on these on-site evaluations and scoring.
The competition featured four categories:
-
Small Estate – under 10 hectares,
-
Medium Estate – 11–50 hectares,
-
Large Estate – over 50 hectares,
-
and, for the first time this year, a Cross-border category.
